Facts don’t change…but the outcome can

The facts are in. They cannot be disputed. They cannot be changed. Deal with it.

Obama is President.

It is not what we, as Bible-believing Christians, wanted, but it is a truth.

He is making unprecedented changes in record time – much to the disapproval of conservatives everywhere.

We knew it would happen. We knew he was going to go for the biggest change – and he promised the very changes he is making. And then some.

An assault has begun, nay, been stepped up, on the very fabric of American freedom and foundation.

Again, those who listened to his campaign rhetoric, knew what was coming.

Nope. We can’t change what happened. We warned everyone we could think of that an Obama presidency would mean disaster for families, conservative values, and sanctity of life preservation. But, when the votes were tallied, he won. And, since then, many of us have done nothing but complain.

Now, I am not in any way suggesting that we should stop fighting Obama – on the contrary, we should scrutinize his every move, and make a phone call if he does anything in the direction of a liberalistic ideal. We should fight for our every right as we still have them – and fight to get back any we lose along the way.

However, more even than fighting the President, we should take action where we live! How? Support organizations which uphold the values and principles we stand behind. Prayerfully and financially (along with volunteer efforts, etc.) support organizations such as the American Center for Law & Justice (ACLJ), Focus on the Family, etc., which fight for these things everyday – often with more pull than a single individual can muster.  Instead of arguing across the fence about our right to keep and bear arms, join the NRA!  When there is an opportunity to have your voice heard, don’t sit at home and say, “I just can’t believe what those {goofy} liberals are doing now!  When will it stop?”  Get up, get out, and get going!  Stand in front of an abortion clinic.  Talk to women who are considering one and offer CHRISTIAN advice.  Do something!

But there are more opportunities: volunteer at your local pregnancy help center to help prevent abortion in unwanted pregnancies, volunteer at local soup kitchens, encourage your church to have a more active and widespread outreach ministry, pray for our leader.

God never intended for Christians to be spectators – LIFE is not a spectator sport! Nor are we meant to be mere commentators! He never wanted us to sit around bickering and complaining about things we cannot change. He did mean for us to reach out to make a difference. He did mean for us to find ways to serve the downtrodden in society. After all, isn’t that where Jesus spent the majority of His own time?

So while we do need to stay abreast of what is happening here on our own soil, in the White House Oval Office, and abroad, we cannot let it dictate our mood or attitude any longer. If we do, our words will be ineffective because there will be no action to speak of.

I encourage everyone reading this to find at least one way each week you can make a difference: write to your senator/congressman/woman, etc., volunteer, support a worthy cause, etc. Do something to promote worthy “change” – not just moan about the bad.

Change is upon us….what have we done?

Here is a great article for you to check out:

Change we never imagined

Is it possible that even the very people who voted Obama into office are not scratching their heads in disbelief at the speed at which such monumental changes are being made?  Doubtful.

God is watching….and thankfully, He is in control.  But that doesn’t mean He approves of what is happening.  We need to be very aware of the differences in approval vs. permissiveness.  As I stated in an earlier post, God permits us to make our own choices, but that does NOT mean He approves of that which He permits.

As Mr. Barber states in the article linked above:

“People of faith, conservatives, and those of you with traditional values: hold on to your hats – it’s going to be a bumpy four years.”

God is a refuge for us

I am sitting here, wondering how to put into words the anger, disappointment, and betrayal I feel from the country I love so much.  It hurts my heart so much to think of how far from grace we have fallen that we would choose to elect someone based on his color, and promise to give everything to those who refuse to work for it.  We, the people, have elected a king (yes, I meant king) who will increase our taxes, decrease our jobs, increase our government, decrease our freedoms, increase our abortion rate, decrease our parental rights, increase our political correctness, and hasten our slide into a Sodom & Gomorrah-type nation.

However, Daniel 2:21 tells us, “And He changeth the times and the seasons:  He removeth kings, and setteth up kings:  He giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding.”  (emphasis mine)

Although, admittedly, the result of this election literally brings me to tears (and I, nor anyone I know, has EVER cried about ANY election result before), we know that God is sovereign and good.  He is in control, whether it appears to our human eyes to be so or not.  God is just, and He is unchanging, and He has a plan for what is taking place right now.  He has heard the pleas of the wicked to elect a king that will “lead” (read: RULE) them – just as He heard the pleas of the Israelites when they asked for a king.  They were given Saul.  God told them (through Samuel) what to expect of a king, yet they begged and pleaded for one anyway.  And a king they got!  They were later blessed with a great and Godly king, David (yes, he messed up too, but even God called him, “a man after His own heart” I Samuel 13:14), but not before the damage was done by Saul.

God is a gentleman.  He doesn’t force us to do anything.  But, He can, will, and does use our disobedience for His purposes.  And, because God is always the same, He will not tell one Christian to vote for one person, and someone else to vote for another.  When we are hearing different things from one God, we need to step back and listen.  Somewhere along the way the message the Lord was sending us got lost in all we heard from humans.  We chose to ignore the Word of God.  God is not the author of confusion, but of peace.  And even in the midst of such a tremendously perilous time in history, God offers us His peace.

Psalm 62 is wonderful.  In going through a great study by Beth Moore, she pointed out some great truths about this Psalm that I would like to pass on to you.  First, read the Psalm below, or in your Bible (I use KJV only).

Truly my soul waiteth upon God:  from him cometh my salvation.

He only is my rock and my salvation;  He is my defense;  I shall not be greatly moved.

How long will ye imagine mischief against a man?  ye shall be slain all of you:  as a bowing wall shall ye be, and as a tottering fence.

They only consult to cast him down from his excellency:  they delight in lies:  the bless with their mouth, but they curse inwardly.  Selah.

My soul, wait thou only upon God;  for my expectation is from him.

He only is my rock and my salvation:   He is my defense;  I shall not be moved.

In God is my salvation and my glory:  the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.

Trust in Him at all times;  ye people, pour out your heart before Him:  God is a refuge for us.  Selah.

Surely men of low degree are vanity, and men of high degree are a lie:  to be laid in the balance, they are altogether vanity.

Trust not in oppression, and become not vain in robbery:  if riches increase, set not your heart upon them.

God hath spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God.

Also unto thee, O Lord, belongeth mercy:  for thou renderest to every man according to his work.

The second, fifth, and sixth verses contain two words that Ms. Moore wanted us to take notice of:  HE ONLY.  God only.  God alone.  We do NOT put our faith in men.  Regardless of color.  Regardless of political party.  Regardless of policy.  Regardless of title, or electoral votes, or stature, or any other conceivable reason.  We put our faith in GOD ONLY

Isn’t it great to know that God is our refuge?  That He ONLY is our strength, our fortress?  He is our defense!  The God of the universe, the Creator of all living things, the One who was crucified, died, was buried for 3 days and DEFEATED DEATH is my defense!  And yours too!  Everything He does is out of love.  He is Love (I John 4:8).  AND, read I John 4:18:  There is no fear in love;  but perfect love casteth out fear;  because fear hath torment.  He that feareth is not made perfect in love.  God is reminding us through John that within His love, we should have no fear.  He has overcome the world (John 16:33)!  He knows what’s going to happen!  He has it all planned out – and His plans DON’T GET CHANGED!  The battle is won!  Satan has already been defeated – we are simply waiting on the Lord’s perfect timing to seal the deal!

Verse 8 above (Trust in him at all times…) also tells us something else:  pour out your heart before Him.  Have you ever poured out your heart to someone?  Ladies, when we do this, it is generally accompanied by a great flow of tears, or, at the least, an enormous amount of emotion.  Guys, you may be a little different, or, perhaps not.  Either way, pouring out your heart means telling someone everything.  Angry?  Sad?  Disappointed?  Worried?  Despondent?  Happy?  Confused?  Scared?  Tell Him!  Leave NOTHING out.  He already knows anyway.  But if you will only TELL Him, He can take that burden from you.  IF you will lay it at the Throne of Grace, and leave it there.  That’s the hard part….leaving it there after we make the delivery.  We have to be like UPS – deliver the package, get in the truck and drive off.  UPS doesn’t get to your house, give you a package, get your signature, then ask for the package back.  If they did, you would look at them like they were crazy!  And rightly so!  So it is with God.  Give it to Him, your worries, your cares, your fears, your hurts, your anger, then leave it there.  God has very big shoulders.  He can handle it.

Check out the next to last verse of the above Psalm:  “…that power belongeth to God.”  Did you see that when you read it before?  Power belongs to God!  Not to one man…not to one country…not to one nation….not to one political party…not to one president-elect.  To God only.  God doesn’t share His power.  (For that I am SO grateful, aren’t you?)  He gives us the strength we need to accomplish His will, but power is His alone.  Do you know what Jesus told Pilate when He stood before Him waiting to be crucified?  He told Pilate this:  Thou couldest have no power at all against Me, except it were given thee from above:  therefore he that delivered Me unto thee hath the greater sin.  Pilate had no power.  Herod had no power.  The people had no power.  The control Pilate showed against Christ was TEMPORARILY granted to him by the Father.  And, be sure, it isn’t the same kind of power the verse in Psalm 62 is referring to.  God’s power is eternal, wonderful, and perfect.  Man’s imagined power is corrupt, vain, sinful, and completely flawed.

God is in control.  Good to know.  So, what’s next?  Now what do we do, knowing that the person we have just elected as our next President is headed in a direction that so many of us are unwilling to go?

Simply put, we pray.  God’s Word clearly tells us to pray for our leaders (I Timothy 2:1-4).  We pray for Obama.  We pray that God will do a miraculous thing in him, changing his heart to be one that longs for Jesus.  And, we pray that whatever the condition of Obama’s heart, that God will use it to increase and glorify His Kingdom.  Remember, God can, will, and does use our disobedience to accomplish His will.

We pray for all the upcoming battles to be fought, that we will be prepared both physically, and spiritually.  We pray that somehow, someway, God will choose to intervene in such a way as to circumvent any relaxation on abortions, stem cell research, and same-sex marriage.  We pray that as our country becomes more of a socialist nation, that the people will still demand to be heard by our leaders, and will refuse to give in to the pressures of an already-too-big government.  But most of all, we pray that many will come to a saving knowledge of Christ in this time.  Because without that saving knowledge, our prayers are empty words.

What about you?  Have you come to that knowledge?  Have you confessed your sins to Jesus and asked His forgiveness?  Have you repented of those sins?  If you haven’t, I urge you to do it today – NOW!  We are all in a perpetual state of dying – like it or not.  We are growing older, and with age comes the opportunity for more wisdom, but also the certainty of an end.  The kicker is that we don’t know when that end will be.  It could be 10 seconds, minutes, hours, weeks, months, or years from now.  Please don’t wait until the last minute!  God loves you so much – don’t reject Him.  He longs to be your Refuge and Strength, too.  Let Him.

Goodnight and God bless.

Something Political

I don’t intend for this blog to be extremely political in nature;  however, I will make an exception with this post.  Especially since, if Obama gets elected, chances are my blog won’t last another 2 years without being considered “hate speech” and(because I have absolutely no respect whatsoever for Obama himself) quite possibly, treason.  Yes, I can see this (and many other blogs written by average citizens, Christians, or anyone who doesn’t agree with the Marxist ideas Obama waves around like a banner) effectively shut down or somehow completely removed from the web.

I am so disappointed in my fellow believers in Christ who can, somehow in good conscience, support Barack Obama.  Without even considering his tax proposals (which are such a lie – what he is actually proposing is a socialist country), there shouldn’t be ANY true, born-again, evangelical Christian (regardless of denomination) who could even for one second consider voting for Obama.  If you only take a look at TWO of his ideals, then, Biblically speaking, you can’t vote for him.  Let’s look at those two items.

Sanctity of Marriage:  In the Garden of Eden, God created the first marriage.  Know who it was between?  Adam and Eve.  Can you believe it?  ONE MAN + ONE WOMAN!  Imagine!  The God and Creator of the entire universe decided that this union should be confined to ONE MAN & ONE WOMAN.  Hmmm.  PERHAPS, since He designed it that way, He intended it to STAY that way?  If Obama gets elected, this will mean a Democratic majority in the House and Senate – and he will be appointing Supreme Court Justices during his term.  Do you realize the consequences of that?  We are already saddled with judges who think it is their job to legislate from the bench.  Can you imagine the horrific verdicts and briefs we would be subjecting ourselves to if the US Supreme Court was under control of the left-wing liberals?  Goodbye sanctity of marriage.  Goodbye unborn children’s rights.  Goodbye American freedom.  Hello New Sodom & New Gomorrah.

The Issue of Abortion:  This one makes me want to cry, scream, rant & rave, and mostly, pray.  The question of when life begins is, according to Obama, “above my pay grade.”  What??  When his wife was pregnant with their two little girls, at what point in the pregnancy did it, in fact, become a pregnancy?  And prior to that point, what was it?  A blob?  Did Michelle Obama tell her mother, “Mom, I’m carrying a tissue blob right now!  In 9 months it will be a baby!”  NO!  She told her the same thing ALL women say – “I’m pregnant!”  I blame Planned Parenthood for the lie about the validity of life before birth.  Obama went so far as to say that, while he would teach his girls morals and values, if they made a mistake he didn’t want them “punished with a baby.”  Now babies are punishment?  And if the timing of when life begins doesn’t persuade you, how about this – have you ever looked up and really read about how an abortion is performed?  Specifically a late-term or partial birth abortion?  The baby is completely delivered EXCEPT the head.  Then a doctor (who took an oath to PROTECT and SAVE lives at the beginning of his career) jams a pair of scissors into the baby’s skull and opens them to make room for a suction hose to literally suck out the baby’s brain.  The brain is removed, the skull collaspses, and the baby is dead.  The baby is tossed out with the trash.  What’s more is the FACT that Obama voted FOUR times against a bill that would allow medical attention to babies who (miraculously) survived an abortion.  Apparently he would rather they be placed in a dark, dirty, cold room until they starve to death.

Given just those two issues, there is no way a true Christian can vote for Barack Obama.  Jesus is an all-or-nothing deal.  He doesn’t give you the option to take what you like and toss the rest.  He says, “If you love Me, keep My commandments.”  Remember the one about adultery?  What about the one that says, Thou shalt not kill?  They are labeled as the TEN COMMANDMENTS – NOT the Ten Suggestions-until-you-come-up-with-something-more-politically-correct-list.

I hope and pray that Evangelicals come out in record numbers on Tuesday.  Either way, we serve a Sovreign God who will allow whatever He wants to best work for His glory and His Kingdom.  I will say this, personally, I think that if Obama gets elected, it is the beginning of the end of America as we know it.  And, more importantly, I think we should all (regardless of who is elected) be perfectly sure of where our allegiance stands and where we will spend eternity.  We are either for Jesus or against Him.  There is no in-between.  Unfortunately, there is a God and He does have to send people to hell (which, btw, is a VERY real place of eternal torment) for not accepting His gift of salvation and repenting of sins.

Have you made the decision yet?
