From Helen Keller
“Unless we form the habit of going to the Bible in bright moments as well as in trouble, we cannot fully respond to its consolations because we lack equilibrium between light and darkness.“ Helen Keller

I’ve rarely been able to read profitably when in crisis.
But when I have read diligently in ordinary times, I absorb something of the love story contained, I see the plot of God’s desire for me, and His yearning as a spurned and jilted lover, often between wrath and passionate longing, finally coming himself as an offering to set things right,
And in times of trouble, this I remember.
But I can’t learn it all at a sitting, when in the midst of the storm.
Blessings!

I agree, Eric! I have found that when I try to look for something only when I “need” it, it isn’t something I can comprehend, or take advantage of. But when I read in times of peace and calmness, I learn so much more, and like you said, remember it when the storm comes.

That’s true. Though we’ve had a lot of bright moments in the last half century, which has led to a lot of insincere belief.
