Raginggenius ~

Thanks for stopping by. And, in response, because I was looking for part-time work (and having spent MANY years in retail myself, both at the bottom of the ladder and as management), I knew then and know now that the arrangements can be made. However, that was not the purpose of this post.

Yes, I agree that the Bible doesn't state that Sundays, specifically, are to be considered the Sabbath. In truth, Saturday is, but again, that is not the issue for this particular post.

My husband also works on Sundays - generally two out of the month - I do not hold anyone in judgement who does...unfortunately in our society, we are often required to do so. At least one other member of our small church has to do so, and no one there holds her in judgement. However, because our church meets on Sunday mornings for worship service, and since the Bible clearly calls us to fellowship with other believers, I made a choice to decline a position which would cause me to miss that time on occasion.

I'm afraid you missed the general point of this post, which was to point out that our nation, and in fact, the world, has placed our focus and therefore our hope in wealth and riches, instead of Christ. Using the story of my job search was a way to illustrate my point.

Besides all my own personal beliefs, as I said, I asked God to open or close the doors to this position as He chose - and He did just that. Truly, what more explanation can I give, and what more argument can anyone bring?

Thanks again for reading -
Be blessed,
Toni

If you are going to apply for a job in retail you should expect to have to work on a Sunday a time or two, having spent 11 years in that biz myself in mgmt also, that is just the nature of that beast. The Sabboth is what ever day you chose to spend the entire day resting and spending it with God, yes the entire day. The bible does not say anything about it being Sunday, that is what WE interpret it to mean. I am blessed that I do not have to work on Sundays but I know plenty of real christians in my congregation that have to and I do not judge them for it. My husband occasianlly has to work overtime on a weekend project and makes over time when he does and since we (the few) actually tithe ten percent or more I am glad that he can make the extra money because at this time more than ever the church needs it. My husband just picks another day of the week to spend with God. And since we obey Gods word we don't have any debt so I am no one's slave, so if you need to feed your family, I see no shame in working on a Sunday once in a while. And yes I do agree that the time is comming when it will actually "cost" us something to be a Christian. The time is on the way so hold fast to the word.
