Do you need a PUSH?
Many years ago, C.S. Lewis penned the following words:
“But one of the worst results of being a slave and being forced to do things is that when there is no one to force you any more you find you have almost lost the power of forcing yourself.”
This quote comes from Mr. Lewis’ Chronicles of Narnia Book 3, The Horse and His Boy. As I read this book, (for the first time, I hate to admit) I stopped to jot down this thought from Chapter Nine. I have remembered and pondered it often.
What I have learned is that it applies to all aspects of our lives, from childhood to adulthood. As children, we are forced to do things we don’t really want to do, but when we are grown, often no one is there to give us that extra push. Think of this: in what areas of your life do you need “a little extra force” behind you? Weight loss (like me)? Housekeeping (also like me)? Organization? Or are there more important areas? Prayer? Scripture memory? Bible study and reading? What about witnessing? Other areas abound.
The truth is, we all need a push now and then. A real push is more than encouragement. It is strong, yet gentle. Demanding, yet hopeful. Uncompromising, yet understanding.
In light of that, I issue this challenge: Find someone you know who needs a PUSH! Give it to them, always covered by prayer…And if you are offered a PUSH, accept the challenge for yourself!

DO YOU Y JESUS or ARE YOU IN Y WITH HIM?
Loving a person and being in love with them are two very different things. When you love a person, you want to see them occasionally, you may buy them a birthday gift, call them from time to time. But it isn’t something you NEED to do everyday. What I mean is, you don’t feel empty or sad if you aren’t with them every second.
But what about when you are in love? Ah, that’s totally different. Remember that feeling of euphoria? And you not only want to spend every minute you can with that special someone, you almost feel as if you can’t breathe if you are denied the opportunity. You strive to do things for them and with them daily – constantly even.
So, where are you in your walk with Jesus? As Christians, we all know that we love the Lord. But are we truly in love with Him? Do we feel as though we simply can’t take another breath without Him right next to us? And if our answer is yes, do we live by that answer? Do we go out of our way everyday to do something that God calls us to do? Big or small, when He calls us, He expects obedience. Do we heed that call? Or do we say, “I’m too busy,” or “I could never do that,” etc. Cold, hot, or lukewarm in our zeal and love for Christ, it will show and be known by the way we live our lives.
